Giving Tuesday

I think we can all agree that this year has been challenging and emotional. Between natural disasters, a global pandemic, a heated election and more, I don’t think I can recall a single person who has walked away unscathed by 2020. It breaks my heart, and I know it does yours too. While my family has been impacted by the events of this year, I know that others have exerpeinced more heartache and disappointment than we have. It has not made this year any more of a cakewalk, but it has reminded me of the little moments, the bits of good, and the hope that a looming new year will [hopefully] bring. I know that despite all of the ugly, there are still so many beautiful reasons to be happy. Even in the middle of the storm, we can still find the good.

Giving Tuesday was created to do just that. To give hope and faith to those that are faced with less than ideal circumstances. To provide necessities and a bit of relief to those who might be struggling or in need. The idea behind Giving Tuesday began in New York City in 2012 and has since grown into an international movement to bring happiness and resources to millions around the globe. Its all about encouraging people to give back when they are able. Whether you donate time, money, or resources, it’s all about lifting up our brothers and sisters around the globe. No gesture is too small. I personally believe that there is not enough kindness in the world anymore, and if I have learned one thing from 2020, it is that you have no idea what someone else is going through, and that a simple smile, a small gesture such as holding the door or paying for their coffee, can mean so much more than you know.

Below I have included links to the Giving Tuesday website as well as links to charities and organizations that are welcoming donations and volunteers. These are a few that are speaking to my heart this year, and to areas of my life that I have a personal connection to. There are many others that I have not included, so if you know of others please contact me here, by direct message on Instagram or by commenting on my posts and stories.
