My Favorite Bible Verses

There are many things I could say about how this year has been; 2020 has been a whirlwind for us all. And as we have tried to cope with a new normal and new lifestyle, I know we have all been trying to find things that bring us comfort, hope, reassurance, and guidance. Whether its reading books, talking to loved ones, focusing on our health, or something else. For me, it’s been the Bible. The Bible is the ultimate source of wisdom, love, guidance and grace for any stage of life, good or bad!

I wanted to share some of my favorite Bible versus that have brought me comfort during the many difficult seasons I have faced (not just this year alone).I hope you are able to find encouragement, peace, or whatever you are in need of right now with these words. Know that you are not alone, there is a God in Heaven that loves you, and that what you are facing is only temporary and cannot compare to the joy that is to come!

  1. Joshua 1:9 “ Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

    • This is one of my all time favorite versus. Like it says, “The Lord your God is with you wherever you go”. We are never alone- even though we might not be in the presence of our loved ones, we are never alone. He is always with us, guiding us and leading the way. He protects us and provides all that we need to face each day, whether there be triumph or tribulation. No matter what you are facing, know that you will always have God in your corner.

  2. Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

    • Another wonderful verse, reminding us that God has a plan and that He goes before us to prepare the way. We can rest assured, and have faith, that He is making all things work together for our good. We may not understand what our future holds, but it is all a part of His perfect plan!

  3. John 16:33 “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

    • God never promised that our days would be perfect. However, we can hold fast to our faith, as what we experience ‘in the now’, will not compare to what is coming! Of course no one likes to suffer, or experience really trying situations, but we can find comfort knowing that these feelings, these moments, are temporary! And since He has overcome the world, we shall overcome the tribulations we are faced with.

  4. Philippians 4:6 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”

    • It is hard to not experience feelings of worry and anxiousness when something is going wrong, plans change, or you face uncertainty. I for one, have struggled with this all my life. I have a hard time when it comes to worrying about things I do not have control over. Or being anxious about something that hasn’t happened yet, or might not happen at all! I always find peace knowing that God is my protector and provider, and all that I need can be found in Him. Each day brings its own worries, and the more we worry, or the more we remain anxious about things outside of our control, we miss the good, and we miss the gifts that each new day can bring.
